Title: Worried about Missouri
Post by: Bolandstrutters on April 24, 2018, 08:13:50 AM
Bird numbers have absolutely plummeted in the last three years and according to the biologist its only going to get worse in the next couple years.  Record flooding the last two springs isn't going to help.  What are you other Missouri guys seeing locally?  We've got a quarter of the birds we had four years ago in Jefferson County.

I just got back from Missouri, Dent County area it is the worst I have ever seen it. Spring is weeks behind for sure looks like dead of winter. Turkeys are not responding at all to calls where we are located...toughest I have ever seen it. Manged to kill a 26lb bird on Saturday to a little light scratching in the leaves and no calling.
I believe turkey season will be over before they get theyre stuff togaether.

The only thing I'm hoping for is that our birds are still on their winter food pattern, which is across the river in giant ag fields.  We have zero green up as of last weekend, so it's possible.
