Absolutely! They make the best hunting episodes out there IMO. Cabela's Spring Thunder lost me completely when they went with their current, ad-pushing duo.

Me too. I watched the first one and wasn't impressed with all the ads.
The Hunting Public has it going on!

Great Show and great group of guys! Very Refreshing to not be watching canned hunts out of shooting houses overlooking private foodplots.

I enjoy watching them on YouTube. It is as real as it gets. Hunter interference and everything else us turkey hunters experience but you don't see on the outdoor channel.

I enjoyed their southeastern hunts. Once they hit the Midwest and the blinds and strutter decoys came out I lost interest.

Thank you, I added them and will check them out. I just hope they don't have a lot of stupid so called humor on their pages, I don't understand that as a lot of it makes hunters look bad and get's on my nerves as it is not even funny to begin with.

They do cut up and carry on with each other but not on the stupid level. They're legit, very down to Earth, and definitely put in the time to earn their success. They show the highs and the lows.

Those are only the archery hunts and I'll give em that if you are doing with a bow and camera that's going to be how you do it 99% of the time. Their recent guy hunts are the same as always with Zach's dads snow bird tight to the roost hunt and they killed yesterday in missiour on a boat in hunt.

Love the public land stuff...I do wish they would have broken up the public/Private hunts into separate videos like the deer hunting series that way I could just skip all the private stuff..Archery hunting them from a blind with a strutter in a field is fun to do but boring as hell to watch.

Probably not many surfers in Ohio. I know lots of long hair hunters though. Looks like you're one of those who judges the book by the cover. You'll miss a lot of good reading by doing that.

I agree completely! It's such a breath of fresh air to watch public land hunting with guys I feel like I could share a camp with. I found them by watching the spring thunder videos and wondering what in the heck happened to them. Then I saw it in the "suggested" area and never looked back. As for the gofundme stuff, they addressed it in one of the earlier videos and said they get the most help by supporting the companies that support them. Idk if that was bogus or not but that was their answer. One things for sure, I'd be ditching that hummer! Hahahaha. Ol stormbringer must really love that thing

Far and away my favorite videos.  Never watched youtube until now and I binge watched a bunch of the turkey hunts.  Great bunch of young guys doing what they love to do and doing it well.  Shows all aspects of the hunt - even the misses and mess ups.  Thanks for the heads up on this.  Addicted for sure.  No that I am up to date on their videos for this season I need to check out this Shane Simpson also - for some reason his name rings a bell.  Did he used to frequent this site?

I'm as close a member from this group to THP.

I write, record, and produce all the music for the show. A labor of love Bc THESE GUYS ARE THE REAL DEAL. Plus they keep me healthy!

My hunt was a private land hunt this year Bc of new health issues - but the spirit of what we all do is to do the best we can with what we have and that's brotherhood, time teaching and learning, and growing together. They know about this page and the great support from you, and their views reflect that.

You've got absolutely nothing to apologize for.  As a Texas hunter, all my in state birds come off private land and if times/conditions are tough and the birds aren't really gobbling, I've been known to set up close to a feeder to get one on the ground.  Congrats on your bird and staying upbeat/getting out there.

Thank you ALL for some of the most enjoyable hunting videos to come along in a long time. You have captured the integrity and realism that was so often forgotten.

I will gladly watch an entire episode or season of THP videos killing nothing before I ever watch another "Booyaaa" type show!

Yes indeed SteelerFan!!  The integrity of the guys is what sets them aside and that's WHY they did the leap. They didn't want to be sponsored by anyone they truly don't believe in. And THAT is rare.

jryser,

The message from your hunt is just one reason I enjoy THP series.  The guys are doing exactly what I dream about being able to do.  It's obvious that they have set themselves apart from the "norm".  It's obvious that they are all genuine and aren't making the same tired videos that are so common.

Give them a pat on the back from me next time you see them.

Done!  They know now they have a good bunch of folks who appreciate them here - Stormbringer is so humble - I tell him how they save my sanity by letting me write music for em, they tell me the show's not the same without my stuff. The truest form of TEAM and each and every hunt is EVERYONE'S success. No competition. If I sound like I'm gushing it's because I am!!  I'm more proud of playing for them than for all the music I did when it was my career including playing in John Mellencamp's band back in the 90's!

I've really enjoyed the music you've produced for the show.  Your episode really hit home being I battle with ulcerative colitis.  There was a time where I didn't think id be able to hunt or do anything else I enjoy.  Glad to see you were able to get out and get yourself a bird, things will only get better.

Man that means a lot to hear this. Everybody says your first year is the hardest and I would have to agree. We are switching medications right now as I did not do well on the first one. Honestly if it weren't for turkey hunting and music to distract me this would be a lot more difficult. Your words give me hope and I can't tell you how much I appreciate this post.

PS - depends, a Coleman mattress, and a bit of steroids kept me level enough to get all 4 turkey tags filled this year!!

Bolandstrutters you took the words right out of my mouth.

Jryser your hunt brought me back to when I was first diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and wondering what in the world was going on. Hoping I could find a medication that works, etc, etc. it was a special hunt for me to watch not only because of commonality but it also reminds me of things I needed to do to remain healthy. I may have shed a tear or two ;) Keep the great music coming!!!

PS - depends, a Coleman mattress, and a bit of steroids kept me level enough to get all 4 turkey tags filled this year!!

jyrser - prayers out to you that your health issues will improve.  I watched your hunt a week or so ago and was thinking to myself about all the things we take for granted.

I cut my teeth on public land so those hunts hit close to home with me.  In recent years I have hunted a lot more private land and I can tell you this without starting a whole new discussion because its been hashed out way to many times.  A turkey is a turkey is a turkey.  Pressure on public lands can make them tough, but they can be tough on private land as well.

Like you and the guys - I am going to hunt them wherever the opportunity presents itself.

Tell the guys to keep doing EXACTLY what they are doing - absolutely love it.  You my friend - Stay after it and may God Bless!

The Best hunting videos on YouTube! I randomly watched a video the recommended on YouTube and was hooked. Now I make sure to check there channel daily to see if they have anything new up. I am sure the popularity of their videos will lead to them have much more success in the Outdoor industry. I wouldn't be surprised if they get a full show with the sponsors in the near future. Just hope it doesn't change them and the way they do their shows. Great job guys!

I actually kind of hope they do not get sponsors and do not change the way they are that will take the Purity out of the way they do it. It won't be like some half hour commercial like most of the other shows. I'll send it turns into business instead of hunting

This is a wonderful and humbling thread.  You all have inspired me immensely!  And I've taken phone pics of every single one of these and sent them to the boys.  Don't be surprised to see a few new members on this forum!

One of the things I have personally enjoyed is making my own videos as well. Fortunately I'm at a place in my life where I would never have nor need a sponsor. I do promote what I have found works for me. I do it for the love of it myself! The Hunting Public follows that same rule. The sponsors they have are people whose products they absolutely believe in and truly use. That was a promise all of them made to each other when they "did their thing".

I really don't want to self promote, however if you do want to see some of the videos I've done on YouTube you can go to Jim Ryser on YouTube and find me there.  It's a place to scratch my GEEK itch of editing, applying what I learned from the fellas, and in general having more fun than a 53-year-old crazy man like me should have!

Thank you for helping me give great feedback to the fellas!

They were more than ready to try a different direction. They decided to roll it. Many conversations led to them jumping in; ironically I was going through very similar career change, passion versus "safe" for lack of a better way of saying it. So we used both lines of direction and all said "in a year we will look back and say YEAH!"  Took three months!  Lol.

We ALL remain grateful to Midwest Whitetail for what we all learned together. I started writing for MW the second year, that's how I came to know THP as they came in as interns and then employees. Greg, Aaron and I developed a very close working relationship to the point they could text me a scenario and a tune would be in their WeTransfer that nite.  Zach, Jake and Corndog have begun that same journey with me so I can honor their tastes in music - it's not uncommon for me to say "Here's a Greg tune...here's a Corndog tune". I name them after things that happen.

It was a natural progression for me to join them when they left MW.

No kids. Greg married, the rest have a GF except corndog who is the sweetest fella I've ever met. Worked it to be able to HUNT and sacrificed A LOT to be able to do this full time with no pressure to "promote" which is extremely important to them and me too.
I loved another quote in here - no "booyah"

For me, I'm happily married with 2 girls and 4 grands. I am a Hospital exec with a firm hand in the clinical world; I work in chronic pain and addiction. It's my calling and my batteries get charged by working with THP, which I consider a great gift!  I'm more "the 5th Beatle" than anything, and I'm glad I have been able to learn so much from such a real group of fellas.

It's really cool to have an insider's perspective on the group.  I really think there's a hunger for authenticity that goes far beyond the realm of outdoor programming.  We're inundated with the commercialization/corporatization/fakeness.  Keeping up with the Jones'.  Instant gratification.  Auto tune, Snapchat filters, celebrity gossip, unimaginative comic book movies, bro country, garbage in general across the entire spectrum of pop culture.  And here's just a group of guys doing what they are passionate about and we're fortunate enough to tag along with them as they record their adventures.  You can't fake their enthusiasm, or the discouraging times we've all felt when the birds just aren't playing ball the way we'd like them to.  Y'all are going places!  I feel a bit like a cool kid just for being a fan of this at its infancy because I know you guys are only going to get a larger and larger following.

I like the "auto tune" reference. I record audio like they do video - real, raw, full of mistakes but from the heart. They will outgrow me soon enough but I don't think they will outgrow their mission. They know the way the business works and that's their charm - those around them know they know it too!

The first flare up is definitely the worst.  I spent most of my first year in the emergency room or bathroom floors curled up in a ball.  Your body is completely caught off guard by it.  Your immune system will learn how to fight them off much better, if not completely.  It's easy to read all the bad stuff online and think your life is just going to be ruined, but ignore that crap.  The doctors will find you the right meds to get you into remission.  I keep up to date on all the latest treatments for crohnes and colitis and I believe we are close to a cure.  The gene editing technology is a game changer for diseases like ours.  I haven't had a major flare up in 4 years now.  Eat good, exercise and stay stress free as much as possible.  Feel free to message me if you have anything you want to talk about.

I don't mind sharing a bit publicly on our forum - you can google "Jimmy Ryser" and "Jim Ryser" and learn about spina bifida and the 55 surgeries I've had. As you said this one has rocked my world in ways I couldn't have foreseen. The biggest reason I'm even sharing this here is Bc I think this forum knows the healing power of hunting, fellowship, and support - rather than competition which is what much of the hunting industry is about. I appreciate your honesty and help and I will PM you so we can keep this thread moving on how much we love THP and what we stand for!!!

First hunting videos that have ever made me smile and laugh. I find myself rooting for these guys to be successful because it's real, not just another show that ends in the last 3 minutes with another kill like so many of the rest of the shows. This is what a turkey season really looks like. Really great to watch a group of friends doing what they love. Another great part is( I am on Day eight now) I have not heard one curse word.
It's great to see that these young men do not feel they have to be cursing all the time to impress someone. I want my sixteen year old son to watch these videos. I could see him doing something like this one day.
I am a fan of The Hunting Public. It takes a lot of grit to hit the road for three months, sleep in tents, and hunt every day. My hat's off to you.

I am pretty frustrated with these videos.

I hunt turkey pretty hard, but for me, it is a seasonal phase.  My four seasons are: Duck (winter), Redfish (late, Turkey, and Red/Trout.

THP has now totally messed up my seasons, because I am going backwards now to watch them!  Great videos.  When I first say the thread, I peaked at them.  I said to myself, "Oh great, another bunch of 20 somethings screaming "SMACKDOWN" or some other silliness when they kill a bird and doing dumb stuff I can't relate to".  Umm, as usual, I was wrong.  Great videos, with a lot of the background stuff that all of us that love to hunt relate to very well.

I freelance hunt Canada for ducks and geese and live for 11 days in a hotel and in my truck, with more windshield time than hunting.  If you don't enjoy the prep, the scouting and all the logistics, it would quickly become work.  But the satisfaction of putting the effort in on your own and reaping the rewards with a fun (and/or successful) hunt is what it is all about for us.  These videos remind me of us when we did that in MS too.  Lots of time getting ready for a hunt.  Very cool stuff.

A buddy had video sunglasses one year in Canada and I cut the raw footage into a 30 minute movie.  I still turn it on and watch it a couple times a year, especially right before the season to get fired up. Now I have something for turkey season too!

Thanks for coming by Jimmy and let them know they have some high quality, enjoyable reality videos that are actually reality and it shows. Count one more fan.

I have watched every video throughout the season after hearing one of the early podcasts Aaron and Zack did with Dave Owens back in February. All I can say is keeping doing what you guys are doing. It's so refreshing to see some guys truly having a good time and sharing the ups and downs of turkey hunting with one another without all of the unnecessary hoopla found in so called "outdoor tv". It reminds me of much of the hunting I did with my buddies when I was younger and could just strike out for a few days at a time and hunt hard. Can't wait to see what's next.

Just found these guys, the episode where he let that bird walk because he was just on the other side of the property line was great. They do it right and I really appreciate the team work, integrity, and how genuine these guys are.

Not to hijack any attention from hunting public but if you enjoy what they are doing you need to check out born and raised land of the free project. These are the same kind of people hunting our public lands 50 days a year for elk. Really great series, check them out.

I think we need some #longbird shirts with a picture of Zach measuring a turkey on the back lol.  I watched the whole series as well. It was nice to see normal average guys doing a what they love.  I just can't relate to guys with brand new jacked up trucks and every piece of gear imaginable. I love gear and buy the best stuff I can.  When you see these guys doing what they do it makes you think "hey I can do that to". I had to borrow my dads truck this year but I killed two public lands birds here in Alabama. Can't wait for next season.

The only hunting channel I subscribe to on YouTube.  I just wish I could do as well as them on public land here in IA!

If you can kill Public birds in AL and MI, you are a true turkey hunter. Next year count on TN, and I hope to have Greg in Indiana or KY.

I know many of you really enjoyed the turkey tour "The Hunting Public" put on this past spring.  They just started the deer tour.  Two hunting videos already out.  I just thought I would share if your interested in watching.  I've been watching them since they first started and really enjoy all the the hunting videos they put.

I've been following Aaron for a while and its great to see them having the success they deserve. They have changed the game as far as hunting media goes.

Ted was pummmmmmmped! I believe the string hit the leaves on the Gilli suit, causing shot to hit left. I had same thing happen. Cut the material away left arm and chest on inside.

I think what I loved about Ted's hunt was the capturing of the highest high of the shot. And then that very first look at the arrow hitting the lowest low, and even getting lower during tracking...and THEN!!!!

Aaron is awesome about the background tunes too / he always puts stuff in that I wouldn't think of choosing from my catalog. That's why I just write and record and he chooses!!!

The boys are the real deal!

You can go here:

http://app.fw.ky.gov/harvestweb/publiclandResults.aspx

To see just how few of bucks have been killed on public land in KY so far...Of course, it was even fewer when they got theirs. Pretty dang impressive to go in blind and get those kills on film when success rates are so low.

What a Great Nebraska hunt!! Nothing like stalking them in their living room or bedroom. Great job!

Hey Jryser you're doing a great job on the music. I think it was right when Zach killed his buck and the music jumped out to me how right it was and then I remembered you were the guy making it. Great job from a fellow musician. Keep it up.

Thank you so much!  When they first started I realized that most shows just use music way too much. I told em they didn't really need me for deer, which prompted us to discuss music as MOOD.

Personally I fell in love with much less If any music - it keeps the reality of the hunt and I love outdoor sounds unimpeded - but the boys wouldn't have that Bc we have so much fun with it.

When we hit on making music be a backbone versus something to drone in the background it was a new challenge!

Man that changed everything and now I feel a good balance is happening - thank you so much for taking the time to write and reinforce that!!
