Title: Tulipwood striker recommendation
Post by: RiverRoost on April 12, 2020, 08:45:18 PM
Seems like Tulipwood gets a lot of recommendations so whose tulipwood would you go with?

I am a huge fan of Lyman strikers. Unfortunately, he has stopped turning strikers or at least turning and selling them. I would try to get one from Neal Herman. Neal of this forum. He makes a killer striker. IMO.

I am guessing you are asking about pots? If so I recently got a tulipwood pot call with brass from John Sinclair and a few months back I got a tulipwood crystal over glass pot call from Old Crow Calls (I can't remember his name here right now.) I am very satisfied with both calls.
Here is link to Val playing the Crystal over glass. https://www.facebook.com/OLDCROWCUSTOMCALLS/videos/vb.1010354915746089/1625564540914147/?type=2&theater&comment_id=1641663365970931&notif_t=comment_mention&notif_id=1571915161101603

He told me that was his favorite combination in tulipwood.

You will be hard pressed to beat a Jeff Harrison tulipwood.  He is JLH on here and is a pleasure to deal with.

I like my Derrick Stuckey (Obsession Custom Calls) tulipwood striker. Here are links to his website, his ebay page and his Facebook page. He actually has more on his ebay page.

https://obsessioncustomcalls.mysimplestore.com/products/tulipwood-striker

https://www.ebay.com/sch/obsessioncustomcalls/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

This one goes direct to a Tulipwood striker.

Now many other people here have suggested Jeff Harrison (JLH) the only reason I have not is because I do not own one of his tulipwoods so did not think it is right of me to suggest a product I have not used, but I will tell you his strikers that I have and I have 5 of them are all top notch and I will eventually try one of his tulipwoods. His service is also excellent, I have problems with my hands and he went out of his way to make some strikers that are a little thicker in diameter for me and they work fantastic. I will be buying from him again. Here is link to Jeff's Facebook page.

Neal here is also another one that makes great strikers, I have not had his tulipwood though but know everyone speaks highly of his. I know his dymondwood are excellent strikers, I own 2 of them.

I don't know about that.  I purchased 2 strikers from him in March, one was tulipwood and it's one of my go-to strikers now.

I have a Lyman. Like it plenty. Probably going to get a JLH when it's all said and done. Will probably part with my Lymans at that point. I like them a lot but just like to have consistency across the board. OCD that way I guess.
