Going to hydro dip my Benelli SBE II. Like the title says, who do you recommend?
I used Don at CamoSolutions w/very good results.
Thanks Doc. That's one I've been looking at. The other is Tarjac.
up...
What pattern are you going with?

I live about half and hour from Tarjac, they have an excellent reputation in the area.
Rob Roberts did my Benelli M1. Cerakote Patriot Brown and dipped the forearm and stock. Just another option to consider.

Leaning toward Bottomland but one of the darker Mossyoak patterns would be good also...
Thank you Sir...
Nice looking job Lunghit...I had quite a bit of trouble with Roberts so I wouldn't go with them. Looks like they did a nice job on yours...
I've used other well known companies, and will only use TARJAC going forward. Hands down in my opinion the best in the business.
I had my SBE II dipped at rob Roberts. Won't do that again. After one season (4-5hunts) it looked awful.
tarjac
Glad I saw this post as I was getting ready to start my own thread asking the same.
I am needing a barrel dipped in MOBU and was wondering who to use.
Looks like a call to Tarjac is in order.

I had some barrel work done by him and had to recamo the barrel. The pattern matched but the finish was shiny. I've lived with it but I won't say it doesn't bother me.
Like you say, I won't do that, or anything else with him again...
I had tarjac dip my gun and it's held up great. The barrel that Rob Roberts did for me has held up just as well.
The only negative I have about that barrel is there were a couple spots of the base coat showing but it was really minor.
The RR dipped barrel on the Tarjac dipped gun matches perfectly. There's no shine to the finish whatsoever.
Thanks gents...I'm leaning toward Tarjac. A little more expensive but I'm doing this once...

I used Don at CamoSolutions about 4-5 years ago. Got the flat finish in the USMC Digital pattern.
Still love it, very little wear marks.
No question, TARJAC. Additionally, they now offer the "soft touch"finish.
Thanks everybody!
Have you sent it off to get-R-done yet?
Haven't yet. Need to wait a few weeks...

Excited to see the finished work.
Finally found my window for this camo job. In researching the companies, I found that Camo Solutions takes the existing finish down to bare metal and plastic. He primes the parts according to the requirements for that material and finishes with the hydro dip.
He actually takes the firearm down (in my case, takes insert out) and protects the internals from getting wet. He dries everything with air after the finish.
He sounds like he's squared away and thorough.
This, and a friend had his gun done by Don and was VERY happy with it.
My only disappointment was his schedule. It's a double edged sword. He's backed up for a month and a half and the process will take 30 some days, so it'll be a little while.
The other edge of this sword is that, if he's that busy, he must do good work...
I'll post when I get it back...
Did you say what pattern you are going with???
Tarjac did an awesome job for me,would definently use them again!
I sent my composte stock to Tarjac to be dipped. I was just notified by Tarjac that it's done and being sent back. Should have it by Wednesday, January 16 at end of day. Will update when I get it.
My local place is telling me $325 to strip my gun down (get current paint off) and dip in greenleaf. Does that seem reasonable?? Seems like I've seen prices of $185 thrown around.

Tarjac is $185 but the gun must be disassembled.

Thanks. That price is disassembled, what I meant by stripping down is getting the factory dip off. How about shipping, how much are you all paying for shipping? Obviously I wouldn't factor that locally but would on these others.

20$ bucks or so to ship a gun in a cardboard box.
I wouldn't imagine that it would be more than 50 bucks round trip.
Don't you have to have an FFL ship for you?

No you do not. Purchasing a firearm yes...getting work done on a firearm including dipping no.
^^^^^what he said. If you own it you can ship it wherever you want.
Well, I went with Camo Solutions in Nov. because of Don's process and a friends' recommendation.
Called two days ago and found that Don, unfortunately, is having health issues that are making it impossible for him to continue in business. He's going to send my gun back.
Now I'm at square one again. I've seen some nightmare jobs and don't want to end up with rusted internals or a poor finish.
Looks like the search is back on.
I know guys like TarJac here but they don't take the existing finish off. They just scuff up what's on there and apply over top. I'm looking for a complete strip down and reapplication....
Ugh...
I stripped my gun before sending it. It was an old Ballistic Specialties paint job. Some Zip Strip took it off easily. The tarjac dip is probably five years old and holding up very well.
Just got my composite stock dipped by Tarjac. Great job and would use them again in a heart beat.
O.k....Here's the deal...Sent the gun to Camo Solutions and, like I said, health issues with the owner precluded that finish from happening.
Ended up going with an outfit in Johnstown, Pa. called GSU Finish Worx. They did an EXCELLENT job. New Mossy Oak Bottomland.
These guys take the entire finish off and prime according to material (plastic=plastic primer...metal=metal primer). They prime with primer that's recommended by Mossy Oak for that particular pattern (not a universal primer). And they use the specific activator for that particular film (not a universal activator). This stuff actually makes a HUGE difference in the finished product. I was skeptical, truth be known. My skepticism was proven wrong in a huge way...
They're detail oriented from the media blasting to the final touches. Excellent, excellent work...
That and they're both really nice people. I'd recommend them without reservation...
I'm not good at posting pics. on here but if you go to my profile (sixbird) and click on my posts, pick the one that say "My new old benelli!!!" there's a pic. of the finished product. It's worth a look...

Thanks brutha'! I couldn't get that to copy...
I had camo solutions do a few guns. I dont like how glossy shine they came out looking. I had color camo and graphic do a few guns too. The finish is nice and matte and looks great. They dented a barrel of mine but did fix it, long story.
That GSU place website is really lacking. Can't enlarge the pics and no names for the camo patterns or prices listed.
They have a FaceBook page also. You can enlarge there.
As far as naming camo patterns, they can get any of the Mossy Oak patterns and they can do cerekote in lots of patterns that they make there.
Pricing is dependent on what you're looking to have done. It's just a call brutha'. Chaz or Mike can tell you all you need to know.
You can message them on F/B if you don't want to speak with them directly...
Well since I dont have Facebook....
There is a place in Evansville,IN called Midwest Hydrographics 812-319-2585 Jeff not only does great work but is a great guy as well!!!
