Interested in trying the Federal TSS 9's out of my old lead slingers. These barrels have the Hastings CT-1/ Tru-Choke system so limited on the chokes that I have that will work safely.
These are the chokes:
IC .665
Kicks .655
Kicks .660
Hastings non-ported .665
Hastings non-ported .655
Flush X-full
What do you guys recommend among these chokes? Should I invest in a Hastings .640,.650 or something of the like? Not interested in paying a bunch of money for a new choke.
21" with Carlsons.640 has been doing good. Better than .660
Don't have a .650 so wouldn't know

Wow..
Just took a red dot scope off of my 870 and took the IC.665 out of it. May be putting that back together. My IC.665 shoots so far off with Hevi 7's had to put a red dot on it which I don't care for much. Wondering if my POA/POI issues will be there with Fed 9's.

That is impressive. What does the 20 yard pattern look like?
24 yards. You have to be careful inside of 20.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190508/6bc7d21ffbf94cffeab137a057157b4f.jpg)

I'm wondering if the Hastings .665 non-ported choke would turn some good patterns. I'm sure the numbers wouldn't be what the IC.665 is turning but it should be a good pattern.
I would try it. Its 665 so it should be equal or better.

Thanks, guess it is worth a shot. Can get away with just using the adjustable Tru-glo sights with that choke.
Exactly.

If you do, post up the results. I have that same choke so it might save me $8 ;D
Will post up some results after shooting. Funny how gun/shell/choke technology can come back around. Had the Hastings CT-1 system and Hasting non-ported .665 put in this 870 after cutting the barrel down to 21" back in the early 90's. Have been through a bunch of guns and chokes over the years. TSS has me back to shooting the same old set up from 25 years ago.
Anyone tried the Hevi .662 with Fed 3" 9's TSS?

I had shot some real good numbers with the Hw7 in that choke but stopped because some said it wasn't good in the ported choke . Not safe.

I had same problems with IC shooting way way off

Same issue here with the IC .665. Red dot scope was the only way to get the POA/POI on.
Was just reading an article of Clark Bush's on All About Shooting. Federal is saying that the new Flex Wad is fine with ported or non ported chokes. Thought is was interesting seeing some footage of Philip Culpepper/ Spring Thunder shooting TSS 9's through a Kicks choke.
