Title: Peabody WMA Kentucky
Post by: Hersh on February 25, 2016, 07:16:29 PM
Any one here ever hunt there ?  My son and I are wanting to head down to Kentucky for youth season. Looks pretty big and we are used to hunting public land. I've heard it's busy during regular season but was wondering if it's worth trying for youth season. Thanks Ryan

Youth season is OK, but it is crowded during regular season. Most birds are in the stripper hills, kinda rough going for smaller kids and old guys like me. Recent ice storms and mining have removed a lot of the better spots. If you go get there a couple days early and scout.

Peabody is pretty crowded,  I think Kleber & Rich area in Owen Co. Is one of Kentuckys best WMA they are. There's plenty of birds and the ground is alot  more easier to hunt. It's more pasture land with rolling hills it's really not over hunted either. I've deer hunted it and turkey hunted it for years plenty of deer and turkey. Send me a PM if you need more info
