Title: M2 pattern help
Post by: nturp on March 01, 2020, 04:01:32 PM
I have a new benelli m2 20 ga and I'm having trouble with patterning the gun. Here is what I've tried so far.
Shells:
Hevi-13 #6
Hevi shot triple beard 5,6,7
Longboard xr 6
Chokes:
Indian creek
Carlson
Factory choke
Tru-glow

The best pattern is from the hevi-13s & Carlson choke .568
236 pellets @ 20 yards
86 pellets @ 40 yards.
Everything else was half that number. I know these guns can do a lot better. Any suggestions?

Mine shot high and left just a bit. I'd make sure your POA and POI are the same. Had to put some adjustable sights on.
I've got a sumtoy .562-5 in mine with Federal tss #9.

I know the gun is "new" but did you scrub the barrel of all packing grease and oil before you started?

Bore cleaner and brass brush for a while then patches until you get a pass through with one clean.

I have set up a few turkey guns for my self and  friends and this has been the main problem especially with M2's

And get some shells in  #9 tss to try after it's clean

I cleaned the gun really good before the patterns with the hevi-13 #6

An update. Went out and bought some federal tss #9s
And another choke. A Jebs .555
So far here are the results
40 yards 10" circle Federal TSS #9 1 1/2 oz
Jebs .555 167 pellets
Indian creek .555 203 pellets
Pattern master .565 204 pellets
Carlson .568 267 pellets.

These are a lot better. But, still feel like the gun could be better.

With the #9s it should be higher #s. I shoot a M2 with a Indian Creek .555 hevi13 #7 and average 180-200 at 40 yards. When I shot TSS years ago I averaged 330 at 40 yards
