Only been turkey hunting for only 4 years now. Buddy of mine took me on my first hunt in which I scored right off the bat. After that I was on my own. All the  turkey hunters I know hunt private land that THEY only have permission to hunt.
WELL, I scored big time last weekend, Thru a friend who does not hunt, induced me to a farmer here in southern Indiana that has 40 acres, that butts up to 80 acres that the inlaws own, 15 of the acres are cow pastures, rest are woods,
Best part is, it's way back in the sticks, they have lived on the property for years and years, and have NEVER let anybody hunt on any of it at anytime. UNTIL NOW !!!
As the farmer was showing me around we flushed at least 12 birds right off the bat, with me standing there like a kids on Christmas day,he turns to me and said that's nothing, he said he has seen flocks of 50 or more.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME,
He takes me to some different areas that the ground looks like somebody took a tiller thru it,
I asked him how many turkeys he as shot here, NONE, never even tasted wild turkey before.
By now I'm ready to wake up from my nap, knowing I'm dreaming this
Only rule he has for me, don't let the cows out,
It's a 2 hr drive from my house,  ( since I started turkey hunting I save a vacation week for the season) he then goes to tell me that he will set up his 5th wheel for me to stay in.
Now all of my buddies are asking me where my honey hole is. My answer is the same as every mushroom hunter says when asked the same question. In my back yard, HA.
Season here in Indiana doesn't start until the 24th of this month.
Lots of sleepless nights since last weekend,

MAN, The next 2 weeks are going to go real s-l-o-w
Can't believe my luck

Virgin land and a 5th wheel to stay in! You can't beat that. I'll probably head to Greene county for opening weekend to the state forests.

noisy box call that seems to sound like a flock of juvenile hens pecking their way through a wheat field
