Title: who hand loads for the 10 gauge?
Post by: mspaci on April 08, 2014, 10:57:02 AM
Is there anyone who could Pm me/maybe speak w/ meon phone with what you are doing for 10 ga. handloads, very interested in doing this. I am an experienced rifle/pistol loader, but need advice about components & loads for shotgun.  Any help appreciated.  Thanks,  Mike

Get Lyman's 5th edition and start there.  I load for waterfowl, but unless I can scare up a TSS recipe (I have asked and no one is willing due to liability I guess) I see no value in loading my own for turkey.  There are too many good off-the-shelf options out there - even for a 10 - to make it cost or performance effective.  My 2 cents.

OK, my problem is that I live in NY, stores arent stocking anything & we cant order online anymore. Thought I would load some. No one seems willing to share?  Mike

Like I said - Get Lyman's 5th edition - there are several lead loads in there.  I think Alliant poweders even has one or two posted on line.

If you go to www.ballisticproducts.com, and look in their archived load of the week section, you will find some heavy 10 gauge 2.5oz. lead loads.  It was posted on 04/08/2011 and is titled Turkey Loads.
