Title: Which pattern?
Post by: austinc on April 01, 2018, 07:24:23 PM
Here's 2 different patterns with 2 different gun and choke combos,  both shooting Longbeard xr #6 12 gauge 3 inch 1 3/4 Oz loads. I'm curious as to which you'd choose. Both shot at 40 yards (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180401/64eae3b7d3906f873adeb91a1a15fb1d.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180401/b2f3b2a2ff5f0fe16e7e82f9828e7b08.jpg)

Thanks for the suggestions and reaffirming my thoughts! I do like how even and forgiving the top one is for sure! It was shot with the escort turkey tactical 12 gauge with Burris ff3 and kicks .655 i put together last year.

The bottom one is slightly tighter, but not as forgiving and I think I could make it much better of a pattern. I shot it with my old 870 and a jebs .650. The 870 hasn't been shot in 3 or 4 years and it's a early 90s model and I know it's never had a good thorough cleaning. I'm going to deep clean it and polish the barrel this week and reshoot it.

Agree top one. Post it up again after you clean it if you have time...

Another vote for the top one. Have shot a Kick's for many years and they seem to throw nice hunting patterns when sized correctly.

Well I deep cleaned the 870 this week and got a break in the rain and decided to try it out, of course as I got setup rain started so I shot quickly free handed at 40 yards but pattern did improve a good bit and am pleased(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180406/90bc339eeeff321c4f6f15ba24eeac1a.jpg)
