Title: Winchester Longbeard 20
Post by: Kates on October 21, 2018, 08:11:37 AM
For those who have this gun and tried various chokes, what brand/constriction are you getting best numbers with?  I don't reload so I'll be using Federal more than likely

I have a Winchester SXP 20 that shoots Hevi #7 lights out with the IC 555 and I believe the Longbeard is using the same Invector Plus 24 inch barrel.

We have two SX3 Long beards, with hand loaded TSS 9's the Ic .555 was almost to tight at 40 with 80% of the shot being in the 10"  The Factory choke and the Carlson .585 both did very well, nice even hunting pattern at 40 with 300-320 in the 10" at 40.

The Longbeard SXP comes w/ a Briley manufactured .570.  The Carlson's and Trulock .585, due to the back-bored barrel ,produce great 20" even patterns w/ TSS 9's.
