Extrema 1 24" barrel
Forcing cone lengthened
trigger job
Rob Roberts patterned at 40 yards
Rob Roberts .650 choke tube
Hevi-Shot Mag Blend
181 pellets in 10"
337 pellets in 20"
387 pellets in 30"
What do you think?
That will do the job
That's awsome! Great pattern.
:icon_thumright: She's Ready!
That will get it done! Nice pattern.
Good looking pattern IMO
It's a keeper . .........
NICE :icon_thumright:
That will never kill a turkey!
I don't want you to have to suffer with hunting such a poor patterning weapon, so why don't you send it to me and I'll give ya like a hundred fifty?
Is that a 3.5" shell you're running?
Yes it is, the guys at Roberts say the 3.5 patterned better than the 3"
That's one fine shooting turkey gun there. Those boys know what they are doing.
I like the center core density!! That will kill some turkeys!!
I'd be on the phone with Rob asking for a refund. You should be over 200 in the 10" all day.
Tell him you want your money back.
I wouldn't carry a 3.5" gun running hevi 6s or mag blend that wasn't over 220.
Seen way too many that will do it after a good barrel polish and frankly, I've never seen a gun worked on by roberts that posted impressive patterns.
Just my honest opinion.

I have to honestly agree. I have had 3 guns with the 3" blend pattern over 200 with little to no modifications other than an aftermarket choke. Ive had 3 others in 3.5" pattern over 220 with no more than an aftermarket choke.
Is the first circle a 10" circle? Looks like a 20" followed by a 30".
Regardless, it's a very even, great looking pattern. Looks like very few in the second ring.

I think thats a good shooting gun especially for 24 inch, you will have to run a whole box of ammo , cleaning between shots on a warm... windless day to come up with a fair evaluation

x2 mine will go in the 270's with the Mag Blends, whit nothing more than a polished barrel and a Rhino choke
I don't think I would be happy spending that kind of money for those results. He is a reputable gunsmith who is bound to help you out in some way.
I'm shooting 24" barrel Xtrema.
I'm getting 230 with hevi 3.5/2.25/ 6's and 333 with hevi 3.5/2.25/7's (in a 10" even to 20")
All I did was deep clean the barrel and screw in a hevi choke.

Are you using the 0.671 hevi choke?

Not at all a fair comparison. Mag Blends do not have as many pellets. I do however agree the numbers are not that impressive, but it is one heck of a nice even hunting pattern.

.671 hevi choke
Maybes it's just me but I would take that pattern in the 20 all day long. May not be the best "numbers" pattern but sure looks to be even all around.
nice even pattern...dead turkey all day but I agree with the others I'm surprised you're not looking at a 200 pattern with that set up...I'm shooting the 3 1/2 #6 Hevi 13 out of a Roberts Final Strut .660 and getting over 200 in 10", no forcing cone work...fought a couple other chokes, just have to find the right combo but that weapon and load should be capable of more.
Hey Bassmaster...Don't pay any attention to the naysayers. There's no turkey head in the world that could survive that pattern...You go kill 'em! :OGturkeyhead:
That's exactly what a hunting gun should do. great pattern! RR could have gotten more in the 10 if that was his thing but unless directed otherwise he purpose is the best turkey killing gun he can produce. That even 20" is a better killing factor in the woods than most will ever admit.
I agree with most here. There are too many in the 20 inch. You need to move some from that 20 into the 10. Remember, the 20" is for a little wiggle room on a bad shot. You should have the majority of your shot in that 10. If you could move 50 into that 10" I would say good. Heck, I've got 20 ga's that give better results. I've never see forcing cone work that was worth it...just my opinion.
Looks like a good turkey killing pattern to me. Just center your pattern up & you'll be good to go. Don't get caught up in the extreme high numbers in a 10" circle game. A good even pattern with enough shot for a clean kill is much more important to me. That's just my preference.
It depends on what you asked for out of this work?
Did you want to shoot 3 1/2"?
Did you want to shoot magblend?
That is a nice even pattern for hunting, but is it what you asked for, or even close?
From what i read around here he does good work and has sent multiple chokes out to guys until it is what they want, heck just ask him .
If your good , forget the rest and give them turks the dirt nap. :fud:
Looks like a very dead bird to me.
180 with a 3.5 magblend is pretty low but that may be what you where looking for. Also depends on the lot number as some will have more 7s then others and yours may be lower in them.
I too sent my gun to Rob (sbe2) and had all the work done. Have a 655 choke on the way from him to test but I will send it back if it's not in the 200-220 range minimum with a 3.5. Having said that, that's just my preference. The pattern you have is a good hunting pattern though.
If I can't get the numbers I want from Robs choke I will call William at SumToy to get me one in the mail. I know his can as that's what I used in my other benelli guns.
Robs crew are good guys and if in fact you are not happy I have no doubt he would work with you till you are.
I have an 870 that Rob did back in the early 90s,,,when he was with Bal specialties...It was set up to shoot 6s and still is one of the tightest shooting guns I have owned,
3 years ago I had him do my sons graduation present..An M2, and my M1.. did trigger, which is zero creep and close to a rifle.
Built chokes for both,,,other then he was way behind getting them done I am happy with his work.
robs a great guy and has built guns for me also. I had an extrema done with his .650 and it was good but realized I was over choked for that bore. I had sumtoy send me a .660, .665, and a .675 to try. the .665 was amazing couldn't believe the difference. give William a call
What is the turn around time for his work?
Just curious how it patterned before you had work done. For the record, I'm not one for super high numbers in the 10"

What he says!!!! They are about a good EVEN hunting pattern, not a super dooper hot core.
Most important factor is are YOU happy with it?
Looks exactly what Rob does....very even shot pattern.
I'm shooting a 3" outlander with #8 apex and a cheap Tru-Glo gobble Stopper choke and putting 215 in a 10" circle at 40. I would definitely keep experimenting but regardless that's a dead turkey every day!
It could be a lot better. I'd be disappointed for the amount you spent
I`d be happy! Enjoy your firearm
