Title: 20 inch pattern
Post by: TnTurk on March 05, 2011, 06:48:47 PM
Asking the experts here, what would you consider to be a "great" 20 inch pattern using the most popular HS 3 inch and 3.5 inch loads? I went back and looked at my pattern from the other day and my 20 inch pattern with Hs 3-2-7 had 438 hits with 53, 54, 56, and 57 in each quadrant outside the 10 inch circle.

That sounds like a great pattern to me. One pellet/sq in is adequate, and since there are 314 sq inches in a 20" circle, you exceed that by a wide margin. You are getting 80% of the load in there and that is excellent as well. You are very much good to go, 3 or 3.5", doesn't really matter.
:agreed:

I shot a pattern a couple weeks ago that had 501 in the 10" and 20" combined. What percentage I that shooting the Hevi 3.5 # 7's?
