No longer taking special orders, but still making calls with woods that are working well at that particular time. Got a few listed on our site ready to go if anyone is interested in one, or just to take a look, check them out here.

Very good price on a great checkered call and great job on the pictures. I agree wholeheartedly on the special orders, I'm planning on ending that also.

Appreciate it Mike!! The problem as I'm sure you already know is one batch of wood will make killer calls, and then you order more and it bites! LOL Then you're in the position to have to try to make a call work from that wood, or spend more money chancing another order will be good. Takes all the fun out of it, and turns it into stress! :character0029:

Probably more tame but falling in love with the bloodwood over black limba!
Well, hell, I done fell for the bloodwood over black limba! :TooFunny:
Been wanting one of y'all's boxes for awhile. Tried to get one last year and they got gone. Glad I got pick of the litter on these you posted. I know it'll sound amazing!

How would you describe its sound? I fell in love with the two limba boxes, the bloodwood lid and the purpleheart lid. And I'm glad to see y'all doing away with special orders. I mention that over and over when people ask about wood combinations, which is, ASK THE MAKER. Y'all are the only ones who know what you have and which one has the right grain for what you do. I tell this story over and over but Jeff McKamey refused to make me the box I asked for because the wood wasn't right. As someone who doesn't make them but is astounded by the people who do, I really really appreciate that!

You hit the nail on the head! Medium/High pitch with clean front, and medium nasal rasp on the back end.
I surely look forward to killing one with it...
Or trying!

One of the things I like so much about this site is shown here, makers supporting makers and complimenting each others works instead of competing against each other. Truly some special makers and people make up this site.
Great calls Al!
Appreciate all the kind words guys!! :icon_thumright:

Good info. I guess I assumed "most" woods were fairly consistent. I guess the only thing I do know is that You and Mike both make killer calls. :you_rock:

Realize I forgot to say what nice looking boxes are there. I have one of your scratch boxes that I like quite a bit.

Thank you! :icon_thumright:
Al, are you and Josh still making what you`ve called your " Field Grade " short boxes? I have one from you that`s walnut/poplar, plays a lower pitched, raspier yelp on one side and a higher, cleaner yelp ( young hen ) on the other. If there was/is a better quality/price class of box on the market, I`m not sure what it would be.

Yes Sir, we plan to make some down the road. It's hard for us to keep every kind of call on the site, but yes we'll have some field boxes as soon as we get some of the other types finished. Appreciate the nice words!
