I use as much as I can off every turkey I harvest. I have some real good private parcels that I hunt solely to myself. I have these because I share my harvest with the landowners. They do not hunt, but love to have Wild Turkey as their table-fare. I also have a hunting buddy in my club who is 81 years old battling bad cancer. He gets turkey meat from me every year, I also take him out whenever he is physically able (which is not often) to call for him. I have another club member who makes soup using the legs, and enjoys them immensely. So you can see, I hunt for the love and deep passion for the sport, as well as helping others to be able to enjoy Wild Turkey as non-hunters. I myself also enjoy marinating and grilling my Turkey pairing it with a great bottle of Cabernet. This is the perfect balance for me and those in my hunting circle.....be well, be safe...

Understood brother. Same situation here regarding the lack of gobbling. I will try the last couple of days next week and the season will be ended. It's sad to see that the turkey numbers are down in my neck of the woods. So enjoy your stay with your family and keep in touch. R/ Murph

Yoder, for me personally, I am not killing a deer or turkey without the intent of using it to the best of my ability. I also typically give half a deer to a guy who brings me mushrooms, turtle stew, etc. I picked my words very carefully, I don't get or understand it. I do my best not to judge and concern myself with my actions. That doesn't mean i don't have an opinion, though. Which, the last I checked was kinda one of the reasons forums exist. I do understand killing nuisance pests and coyotes, etc. I know guys who do crop damage and donate the meat. I get that. I just can't operate that way. I have a set number in my head when it comes to killing, and when I am good, I quit. Actually, when it comes to brush goats, I enjoy watching my kid kill them more than doing it myself. Once again, personally, I am not out to feed the world or seek justification for killing animals I won't use. Game populations couldn't handle it, and I just don't need to kill something that bad. I have killed plenty and will kill some more. My relationship with hunting ties in to self-sufficiency just as much as sport. I also don't understand people who don't process their own kills, so there is another one I am weird on. I love hunting, especially turkey hunting, but I also am pretty careful with how I go about it to make sure there are some for next year. This applies to deer  turkeys, squirrels, etc.. I am teaching my kids the same. It saddens me that turkey hunting is turning into a numbers game in much the same way that deer hunting is an antler game. And we wonder why turkey populations are struggling. Well, we sure aren't helping them out much with everything else they have to deal with nowadays.

Sooo...... just curious.....show of hands ??

If a person hunts turkeys (or deer or whatever)....or anything else....for the thrill and rush of the hunt.  Yet gifts the meat, most times, to someone else who will use it all.....

That guy has no business buying tags and being in the woods enjoying the hunt ??   He has no right to be respected ??

Sorry guys :police: :firefighter: but I'm done. I haven't heard a gobble in 2 weeks, so I went to visit my daughter, SIL and grandson today. It's supposed to rain buckets tomorrow, which is the last day.
It was a rough season for me. Sorry I couldn't contribute more. Best of luck to those still hunting. :fud: :turkey: Be safe brothers. :police: :firefighter:
