Took my 11 year old grandson Tanner out during fall season in Kansas last weekend and he took his very first bird, a nice hen. Tanner has hunted with me a couple of times during the spring and no luck...he missed a longer shot at a jake last season. He was pretty pumped up about this bird. Nice thing was we hunted pretty hard and had no luck but he spotted two hens in a fence line on our way back to the truck...turned out there were 8-9 hens and he was able to set up in front of them and ended making a great shot at 10 yards. Mossberg 500 youth turkey gun...we were shooting the std. extra full choke that came with gun...I removed the Pure Gold we have cuz I thought we would probably get a close up shot. 3" Winchester # 5 turkey loads. He has the bug now! Can't wait for spring!
Congrats to both you ,, He looks happy :icon_thumright:
