Title: RNG 200? Water bladder?
Post by: Missed mallards on February 09, 2021, 09:25:20 AM
I'm sure it's been asked but could t find my answer. I've all but decided to retire my current vest. Just don't enjoy it as much as I did 15 years ago and the rng 200 has caught my eye.

With that, I take a 2 or 3 liter bladder with me as I consume a lot of water. Will the backpack portion hold a bladder or will I need to modify?

Thanks

Absolutely.  Here's a post from KNH website, https://www.knightandhale.com/run-n-gun-200-mo-turkey-vest.

I have one in the miscellanous classifieds if your interested.  Not sure which bladders are compatible since I only used mine once but the backpack section is pretty roomy.

I use the RNG 300 - I assume the water bladder pocket is the same on the RNG 200.  With that said, I like the Badlands bladder - nice design, never a leak.  You can also get he clip that holds the water hose on your shoulder.

Don't use a 2.5L...2 is as big as it can fit. I got some green cheap one off Amazon that works great and got some plastic clips to clip to my left shoulder

I read somewhere that the rng200 is designed for use with this bladder. No idea if true or not. Considering ordering one though most of my hunts are half day and I rarely take water (though I certainly should)

Edited - just ordered one so will report back

I use a 1.5L in my RG300 that's a good bit of water for anything but the longest hottest day, is think 3L in something that's not a frame backpack would be really heavy

Interested to hear how it fits and all with the 2L....realized mine was 2.5L that is too big

Here's the deal on the backpack areas for the 200 and 300.  The 200 has an area of 198 cubic inches.  The 300 is bigger with an area of 375 cubic inches.  As you can see, the 300 is almost twice as big.  I'm not sure what bladder will work or is compatible with each but I would think Weight and Area should be factors.  I would suggest a smaller 1 liter bladder for the 200 and maybe a 1.5 liter for the 300 would work fine.  Remember, if your walking great distances, the weight of the bladder should be a Prime concern.
