Title: Skull cleaning?
Post by: wisconsinteacher on May 01, 2011, 09:05:24 PM
How do you European mount a turkey skull?  Beetles, simmer, or rot in water?  I would like to try one.  I have done mammals but never a bird.  Thanks

I do mine by using the soak and rot in water technique.......clean the skull of as much flesh as you can and do nothing more than let nature take its course for 2 weeks in a soak of water.....after that do a soak in bleach and reattach the lower jaw that falls off during decomp.....the one in my avatar is one I did.

I've never seen a turkey skull done. Anyone have any pics?
Here is a grey fox and coyote I had done.
