Buffalo or antler tipped strikers?
May 11, 2011, 02:57:31 PM
Has anyone made or seen buffalo or antler tipped strikers? I can't really seeing any buffalo horn tipped strikers, but something makes me think that I saw an antler tipped striker on here a while back.
Thanks,
-Derick

I made a few antler tipped strikers a few years back. I used 1/16" brass rod stock to join the antler piece and the wood striker. It was a lot of work and I really didn't care for the sound. I was getting too high a pitch for my taste. This may or may not have been due to using the brass rod. It worked well with acrylic tips on wood strikers, but I didn't like the antler tips. If you try it, let us know how it works out for you.
