question about river cane

I want to try to make a river cane yelper, not to sell, just enjoy messing with things and wanted to try to make one of these or a few of them depending how it goes. Where do the guys that make these river cane yelpers get there material. Do you buy it or go get it naturally? If you buy it where do you get it from? Thanks in advance guys

I get mine naturally. I have a few spots in east tn I get mine from. I store mine in an out building for about a year before I use it. Some I have cut and sun drying where it was cut.

I get mine from the boys down south. It doesn't grow up north here. (Pa.)

Mine comes from Mark Sharpe.  Comes pre-assembled.

If you live in the south go to any running water go down stream if you go far enough you will run in to it.
