I have had this little call for at lest 35 years and I lost it last weekend. I had found several more over the years in case I lost it or it broke but never found one that sounded as good. I have several from other makers but that caller was a killer. It was the first call I ever got.

MISSISSIPPI Double beard

Sad indeed, it is hard to replace a killing call. Sorry to hear that.
They call him...Kenny..Kenny

I had one many years ago were talking 30 years ago  ...loaned it to a buddy ...it became a " flat" call , he sat on it lol

I found a replacement for my collection   not as good but regardless the "spring hen" is collectable if you can find one

Are they actually worth anything? I have an old one from my grandpa and I'm just curious.

The one I lost I brought for maybe 15 bucks thirty years ago and I have gotten several of eBay for around the same price, I walked into Primos a few years ago with one I had and the guy there said he had been there 25 years and had never saw a wooden one. I wouldn't pay Neil Cost prices but I would pay for one that worked good.

There's plenty of push pin boxes around but very few that sound good. I have an early Doug Camp box that uses a coil spring instead of the later rubber band. That call was responsible for the death of several longbeards. For reasons unknown to me it lost it's killer voice and I never found another that can match it. I'm still looking, good luck in your search.

Hey guys I have been looking for a replacement for my lost call and I saw a Primos Spring hen that was still in the original packaging on eBay the other day for 10 bucks but it was plastic box. I just went out to the mail box and there it was and had to open it and give it a try, it sounds great and will go in my vest!

county hunter

great! good recommendation - I will look for one when I have time.

Old Gobbler

The 2 primary culprits and variables with push pin sound

1--peg

2-sound board

--------

Moisture and extreeme temperature will change a pushpins sound board and peg ....heating up the wood and "moving "the resin inside those two parts ..and changing the tone.

I only use and provide Primos chalk when i sell a call --I recomend you try it too...chalk is a BIG DEAL with push pins .....if your having trouble with a push pin ....take that whatever chalk off(wipe-light steel wool) and get some brown primos chalk and pUT it on

Many of the large maker designs use.a fail proof peg design ....no tuning oaky...that's why if you pick up 20 of them.only a certain few sound okay ...the rest are duds

I could talk for hours about push pin pegs ...there is so much that can go wrong

It's the peg....I have a wooden  primos I should see if I can mess with the peg and see if I can hot rod it  ,, of I have luck with it it's possible I could tune others like it
