Pretty new to the 20 ga. craze, I normally carry a BPS 10 ga. with Nitro's but I have a old 20 ga. 870 express with 26" barrel and a Lohman extended turkey choke (no idea on constriction) that I bought 15 yrs. ago so my younger cousin could go turkey hunting with me. It never impressed me with lead loads but I kept reading about Fed. HW #7s and had to give them a try. I will say I was pleasantly surprised by the pattern, 197 in the 10" at 40 yds. ;D

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

it's not the harvest,it's the chase

Just saw this post I made last year, I ended up killing 2 of my 4 birds with the 20 ga. Shot one at 49 yds. to test effectiveness of the HW #7s and the other at 52 yds. after one of my 6 yo twin daughters spooked it and it was walking away quickly. I still love my 10 ga with Nitro's but man do I ever like carrying the 20 up and down the hills here in East Tennessee. ;D

The addiction will cost you time and money and alienate those close to you. I can give you the names of a dozen addicts — myself included — whose wives begin to get their hackles up a week before turkey season starts and stay mad until a week after it closes.
