You got to like the longbeard shells no doubt for a lead shell they do shoot a mean pattern and are cheap so a lot of people can buy them .
The tight patterns hopefully will help those who don't  pattern , which is quite a few. You can also expect them to be able to kill further out for those who have been in the situation of not having the range right
Which is probably very common so many birds may die which could have been just wounded with lead loads that don't pattern as well. You know those 2 or 3 shots you hear sometimes.
They apparently can help with a bad shot as in hitting a twig which would usually throw a pattern all to heck. Very lucky there. So all in all the loading will do a good job for what is was intended.
Oh, if using a 835 you may have a gobble gobble click as a friend of mine did so be ready to shuck another one in. He wasn't.

yeah a friend of mine clicked on one last year with an 835 and longbeards , but he said it was the spring in his firing pin getting weak. so is this a longbeard hard primer problem or is this a Mossberg problem?

Idk but has been some threads on here about cleaning and hard primers too. I haven't seen the results of anything to suggest the problem being solved. I know that the thugs I gave him and his Remington shells all went boom and also a box of field loads. Two of the longbeard went off also . He cleaned after all this.

ive fired 3 entire boxes of long beards between hunting and play. all 3 were from different lots and 2 were different sizes. they all fired. my friend with the Mossberg has fired more like 5 whole boxes if not more....it only happened once, and he never even assumed it was a shell.....on the same subject...I had my first click this year deer hunting with a Remington core lokt. on a 146" ten point. fortunately all he did was take one more step after I bolted another round. HE GONE!

About 3-4 boxes in 2 Remington and a beretta no misfired.  Friends have shot a lot of Federal and older Remington's and Winchester shells in 835 and 935 without any problems. The fact is so far 835 and longbeard combos and seems to be fairly common from post on here and the one that I know. You can read in turkey guns threads , done with my mossburg.

I stopped by my buddies house last night with the Mossberg, it wasn't his firing pin spring. his actuall firing pin was bent on the end and it was hitting the side of the primer, his hammer spring malfunctioned as well. he actually fired the second shell again. straightened the pin and reused it. I probably would have gotten a new pin. but hes destroyed 2 mossbergs in the last 12 years of hunting. odd I know. I wonder what would bend that pin like that.

Last year I had a total of 4 shells go click in my rifles 3 of them were in a Marlin 3030, and 1 was in a Savage 308, all of them were Remington Corelokts, but the rest fired fine, both boxes were ordered through the mail from one of the big outdoor stores, have not had it happen with the Longbeards yet, just figured it was a but run of ammo of maybe old, primers, was annoying but not hunt ending. I guess it could be on a 40 yard turkey shot.

I agree the longbeards are the best lead loads out there. And I can honestly compare them to hevishot.

As for the mossberg 835 I have run at least 5 boxes through my mossberg with no misfires.
I can not say the same for Rem core lokt. I am done with Remington ammo. Remingtons quality has really slipped off the past 8 or 9 years.

Congrats on the bird! The long beards are a really good shell. I'm thankful i was shooting them yesterday. I pulled a 30 yard shot low on a gobbler and he stopped at 53 yards to offer a follow up shot. The #5's hammered him, dropped on the spot.

I came from shooting nitros for a couple years. 71 dollars for a box of ten. im putting more pellets on paper with longbeards than nitros in 3" shells

That is impressive! 3 or 3.5 inch shell and how many ounces of shot?

Congrats and Thank You!!

They do pattern great. I'm putting 150-160 in the 10 at 40. They are best shell I have tried, although I have never shot htl.

3" 1 3/4oz. The 1 7/8oz did pattern a little more even but I couldn't find another box in time to hunt with them.
