I found a Winchester 1300 with 28" barrel. I have never owned a 1300. What are some of the highpoints of this gun and how well do they pattern? Thinking of buying it.Thanks in advance.

The 1300 has a number of admirers and I'm sure you'll hear from them when they see your post. It's a quick gun to shoot as the bolt starts backward after a round is fired. That can be good for waterfowl or upland bird shooting, as well as clays. Some forward pressure on the forend can keep it from cycling backward and helps accuracy when hunting turkeys or deer.
That gun has a standard 12 gauge bore and it's threaded for Win-Chokes, so you have a very wide choice of brands of chokes from which to choose.
Properly choked and with the right shells, it should pattern very well.
I hope that helps some.

Thanks,
Clark

Congratulations on the 1300! I have shot many turkeys with my 12 gauge 1300 with both a 26" and 22" barrel. After much experimentation, I shoot an Indian Creek BDS .660 choke and either Longbeard  #6's or Hevi Shot #7's. Those choke/load combinations should do well in your 28" barrel. If your 1300 is a 20 gauge get a good non ported choke and some Heavyweight #7's. Good  luck!

I have two, one has a kicks gobbling thunder choke tube in .655 which shoots the long beards 3" #6. Very tight. The other one has an Indian creek black diamond and shoots hevi 3" #6. Nice even pattern. Only problem was that the poa was way off of poi that I had to put a scope on it.
