Wondering if anyone has patterned 3.5in LB #4's with the Carlson's LB choke and what their results were.

I bought a case of the #4 since it patterns well with my .676 Star Dot (ave 140ish), and noticed they had the Carlson's on sale, so I said what the heck I will try it.  The Carlson's is .683 so I thought maybe with a little less constriction it might do a little better.  I ran some thru my Jellyhead .690 and couldn't even break 100.

I have not shot the carlsons. I have with the stardot though, honestly my best patterns with 4's came from the factory xtended .690. Really surprised the JH didnt do better for you. Interested in seeing what the carlson tube will do.

I hunted with the 3.5 #4 longbeards through a stardot getting 120-140s in my 935 last year. The #4 did better in stardot than the kicks.680. But the kicks does better with 3.5" longbeard 5s getting 170s. Its gonna be hard to beat 140s in the 10" with that load, the best I've seen an 835 do with that load was a guy on here who got mid 150s with a sumtoy 675. Good luck let us know how the Carlson's choke does @ the range.

I patterned my 835 last year with the 3.5" 2oz #4's with the carlsons long beard choke .683, hevishot choke .676, and the ssx .670. The best choke for my 835 was the hevi choke which put up several patterns in the mid 160's. The carlsons long beard choke did average 130-140 (in the ten@40) but my patterns with it and the #4's were not as consistent as the hevi choke and had big gaps.

It isn't that hard at all.  One of my 835's (specific turkey gun) puts up the prettiest 160 avg pattern you'll ever see with Federal Grandslam 3.5" 6's and the same numbers with the LB 4's through a 670 Smackdown and/or SSX.
