would it be a Rio or Merriam?

2nd question.

If you are trying to  go for a Grand Slam, what happens when you kill a hybrid--what does it count as?

You're much more likely to find Rios, Easterns, and mixes in Kansas.  I don't know how to officially classify a "hybrid", though.

Kansas has Rio's and Easterns.  you can go to their website to see the where each live.  They might have some merriams out in the Southwest corner too.

I don't know anything about registering slams.

If you kill a hybrid then I'd say you just got 1/2 your slam!  ;D

Where you headed and I'll tell you what you will encounter. Need to get west of a Concordia to salina to wichita line to have decent shots at rios. Very few merriams hybrids, and you haveto be a resident and draw a special permit to hunt in the SW.
Well I'll take a Rio-- --I'll go elsewhere for a Merriam. Where is the best plavce in Kansa to take an actual Rio where a non citizen can hunt next Spring
