Hello,
I just started making some mouth calls with the Feather Ridge jig.  I am using a .004 reed, with two .003 reeds.  I am doing a combo cut.  I am having a hard time getting the right amount of rasp.  I have been using five full turns on the jig, which amounts to slightly less than a quarter of an inch.  I am just putting slight back tension (little smile).
The majority of the calls seem to have too much rasp and if I do more turns on the jig it seems the call is too high.  Any experience or pointers would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I don't have one of feather ridge jigs but .250 is to much tension for a jig. Try .180 or .150.

Thanks Joe!  I just did one at .150.  What a difference.  I still need some work, but it's getting there.

I read on a post awhile back where Thad stated .180 on a press is about .320 on his hand jig.

Try having minimal top reed hangin over the second reed.
Hope this helps
