twinters

for the last couple of years some of my hunting buddies and i have been finding some odd birds in Alabama . these birds aren't 2 year olds but you can't really call them jakes. they have fairly longer beards and there spurs a bit longer as well. they gobble, strut, drum, and all the other stuff that the more mature birds do,but still don't have very full fans.my question is,are these birds the result of an early hatch,or could it be that the hens lose a nest and then re'nest .making these birds 1.5 year old birds, and if taken later on in the season, would they look even more mature.i have been hunting and killing turkey's since 1986,and cant remember ever seeing any thing like this until recent years.hope you can help with this, and by the way i do not have a problem with killing a bird if he comes in there acting like a man.

twinters,

They are early hatch.  A one and half year old bird would have a full fan.
