If you are trying to get a clean front end, like Scott Ellis, your technique is wrong. The technique you are using is blowing on the call with your tongue starting on the latex. The technique that Scott uses is huffing on the call or panting like a dog and using your diaphragm for the air pressure needed to make the call work. Start with the call in the roof of your mouth can as you huff the air bring your tongue up against the reed to make the sound. Once you start making sound that way you can adjust your tongue and the pressure that you need to get the front end. Once you find the front end you just drop your tongue off the latex, or drop your jaw to get the back end rasp. Here is another one of Scotts videos that might help.

This is the 2 reed set back batwing call. Message me Terry if you want to try one. This is my favorite  call for clucks n purrs and soft yelps. You can cut on this call also. TRKYHTR is right if you want to get a better front end yelp you need to huff the air from your diaphragm. https://www.youtube.com/user/TheTurkeyhunter89  click on this link IMG 04111 GOOD LUCK and practice, practice n more practice.

Remember Terry you do not have to be perfect to call in a big long beard. The only time you have to be perfect is on stage competing in a calling contest.

Terry

Yeah, I know that. I have called in a ton of turkey with a mouth call sounding just like I did in the first post. Honestly, I have never once felt like my calling made or broke my hunt. Wanting to sound better is purely just to meet a personal goal.

Terry

Not sure what you mean

Terry

Do you mean the longer drawn out noise I get at the beginning? Thats me trying to find that high spot
