I pulled some pattern pics from last year and got to thinking about those results.  I purchased a special order pg .660 from another OG member that I wanted to test with h13 7's and it liked the 3"-2oz-7's much better than it liked the 3.5"-2.25oz-7's out of my rem 870sm with 26" pipe.  I also have a special order pg .665 for rem that i have never tested.  My question is simple... Given the results between the two patterns below (which were shot on the same day), what kind of difference (if any) do you believe I can expect with the pg .665?

Rem 870 SM, PG.660 H13 3-2-7's

Rem 870 SM, PG.660 H13 3.5-2.25-7's

By the way... This is still my person best, I haven't been able to top it with factory loads yet.

MS,prolly more hits with the 3 1/2" and 20 less with the 3", useing the .665... :icon_thumright:
SOOO if you want to sell the .665 I'll take it off your hands!! ;D

Looks to me like your PG .660 is to tight for the 3.5" #7's. The .665 may do better, but with the way your jellyhead shoots them, I wouldn't worry about it.

He's big enough to ride in my truck!

Kinda what I was thinking, but I guess I'll have to give it a test or two... I'll let you know as soon as I shoot a few through the .665 whether or not I can part with it or not. :icon_thumright:

Yep, the jh has turned out to be my "go to" for numbers, but its wicked tight out to 25yards... so I have reserves on whether to hunt with it or not... Thoughts of missing running through my head doesn't sit well with me.  Don't know what it is about the jh .660 and those 7's, but its a shootin fool I tell ya.

Have you shot your JH 4-5 shots for consistency

I bought 4 boxes  of 3" and 4 boxes of 3.5" 7's last year and used one box of five 3.5" shells on the JH test.  The 352 was on the 4th shot...ran a bore snake through after each shot.  I never had more than 20 pellets difference in all five shots.  However, anything is possible in that the box I was shooting through the JH could have been from a different production run, but I didn't think to check and I doubt that was the case since they were all shipped to me the same day.  Who's knows shootum, it may have been one of those perfect days where the moon and stars were all aligned.  Now that i know what that combo can do, I hate to go shoot more shells and waste even more money on proving it was a fluke, or even worse, piss me off for not getting the same results.

I got much better patterns in my 1187 with 3-1.75 handloads of HS 6s, 6x7s, and 7s in a PG .670 vs PG .665. It's your money, and I can't blame you for wanting to tinker with new chokes, but most people would kill for patterns like you are getting with your JH. If I were concerned about missing close, I would buy a Burris FF II and continue to shoot that JH / H7 combo.

Good point... I would like to be able to shoot magblends pretty consistent as well... this is why i got the pg .665... I'm wanting to get good results from 7's as well as magblends in the same choke... the jh .660 and pg. 660 hated my 3.5" magblends, both .660's over-choked magblends in my barrel.
