Are you supposed to rough up a ceramic pot call, or leave it alone? The one I bought didn't mention anything about that.

I don,t think you would find any thing to rough it up they are harder than a mother in laws love.

I really don't think you can condition it with anything except diamond dusted wheels for a dremel tool. I use alcohol on mine.....

Just use diamond paper available at home depot and menards. Not all ceramics are of equal hardness and I have heard of a report of purpleheart strikers wearing into this ceramic.
If it plays well no need to condition, if you think it could be better go ahead. Your not going to hurt it.
