16 gauge?

Before I buy a plethora of shells, I'm looking for a good place to start. Here's the skinny. I have and old model 12 winchester, in 16 gauge that was passed down to me, and it's time for it to make a return to the spring woods. I have two barrels for it, one modified, and one full. The odd thing is, the full barrel appears to be an inch or so shorter than the modified barrel. I believe the mod is 26 inches, and the full is 25. Anyway, can anyone recommend a good 16 guage shell to start with. I'm trying to avoid buying a bunch of boxes of 25 shells, that I won't use. I'm figuring 6's would be my best bet, and I'll likely be keeping shots 30 yards and under(unless some sort of magic happens at the patterning board). Do they make a 16 gauge shell with the flight control wad? That might be the ticket with the fixed choke, if they even make one. Any advice or experiences with the 16 gauge would be appreciated!
