Guys,
When you locktite your scope bases down, how long do you let the locktite cure before you put your optic on your gun?

VAlongbeard84

I always just let it sit overnight and put the optic on then. Maybe longer than need be, but its what I have always done.

I mount it immediately. I want the loctite to keep the screws from backing out due to vibration from riding in a truck, shooting the gun, expansion and contraction from heating and cooling, etc. Mounting the scope should not cause any of that.

I mount the scope immediately and use loctite on the ring screws as well.

:agreed:

The only time I have ever had screws loosen/back out were on the rings.  Scope was sliding forward and backward. A little loctite and problem was solved.

Just do not use the wrong locktite!
I always use the blue, never the red.

Amen. I've started using the purple loc-tite made specifically for small screws, works great.

jerseyjimk

you can use red, but you will have to use  heat it to get it off

I heard rumor that chatterbox used some gorilla glue instead.   :goofball: :TooFunny:

Used the red one time on a scope base. I want never make that mistake again.
Turkeys are as smart as hunters make em and public land offers more classes.
