scope base and red dot size???

2 questions, I'm older and the 3 moa red dot is small and lose it in the brush. I have a leupold delta pro with their triangle 7.5 moa, that seems big, but thinking it I used the peak of the triangle it would work. Anyone use this sight?
Second ? thinking about trying a scope, I have a fixed power 3x leupold that I can play with now (I'll probably get a 1.5-4.5 if I go that route) but need bases for franchi affinity 3 20 gauge. Any suggestions, steel, aluminum, one piece, two piece and brand?
