Was lucky enough to get one down before the rain this morning. It wasn't the one I was looking for, but god bless two year olds.
The birds in the area I was hunting have been flying down and staying in a neighboring field that we have permission to hunt the first couple of hours before then entering our pines. So this morning I set up in the field to try and get one before the storms. Only saw a couple of hens. Around 10:00 the rain was approaching so I snuck out of the field and got in a one man pop blind I set up this morning in the dark to have a place to get out of any heavy showers. Wasn't long two Jakes came in and while one of them strutted the other attacked one of the decoys for the next 10 minutes. Then the gobbler came in and pushed the jakes away and started his own attack on the decoy. By then I had, had all I could stand and finished the show for good.
Rain is moving out, but the temps are going to in the low 40's in the morning. Back at them...
