How do you think cold temperatures (30 - 40 gegrees) have an effect on gobbling and turkey movement in general?

I think it effects the hunters more than the turkeys.

I love colder than normal high barometric pressure mornings.  The day the front passes through it is usually windy and overcast, but if it gets calm that night and the pressure comes way up, that is my favorite time to turkey hunt.   Two or three years ago it was 21 degrees on Easter morning (broke all the records) and that was some of the best gobbling I have heard in Alabama in the past 6 or 7 years.

One of my favorite home made video's is from Nebraska.  I called in two birds for two of my buddies.  The birds circled around and came in behind them.  I filmed them sitting in the blowing snow with their guns on their knee's side by side, and their barrels going around in circles because they were so cold, and two longbeards 40 yards behind them strutting and gobbling.

They can just glide through the snow, and they have no problem leaving one mountain to come down hill and up the next mountain when the are receptive to the call.
Got me already jacked up for the 2011 New Mexico season already.
I would of enjoyed seeing that video.

my experiences across the country have been that the birds will continue to gobble in the cold weather.

if a combination of cold weather and wind presents itself,  they seem to get an immediate case of lockjaw, though.

In Florida if it is just cold they will gobble {cold by our standards 40 deg} , add some wind and they stop

We have in some spots with very sandy  soil , most of us call it "sugar sand" on fire breaks and roads it gets bleached out white - For as long as I can remember I have noticed that whenever we get a good coldsnap the turkeys tend to loiter and overly hang out right on these spots, its like they are trying to warm up or something , The glare from the sandy spots might have something to do with it -- like sun bathers that go to the beach - These have proven to be good late morning spots to hunt in Florida
