Depends on my season.  I have been put in that situation before, but I have never pulled the trigger.  Just never really felt right to me.

It is still legal to whoop your wife once a year in Arkansas, does that make it OK. (In reference to shooting a turkey with a rifle.) Right On

All my hunting is on Public land so I would shoot him, I enjoy calling the birds in and watching them strut, but I go hunting to bring a bird back.

In a situation like this or if a bird comes in quiet to some decoys and my calling didn't get him to make a sound or strut, I'll still take him but it feels pretty anti-climactic. Can't get too excited about the kill... but it gets me closer to filling my limit so I can focus on taking other people hunting.

You actually have public land loaded with birds? That would be nice.

Many years our public land is better than our private.. I have never hunted the large forests and am basing my observations on 400-600 acre chunks

I have passed on several and will continue to do so. I only hunt public land and this spring will be 41 years chasing gobblers. I'm an old school turkey hunter and feel I have to call the gobbler inside 40 yards to earn the right to kill him.

I have a 5 day season in Wi. If I get a shot, he's going home with me. Would be no different than walking up on a buck during deer season. I'm shooting both. Mike   Right On
