stacking box calls
« on: July 17, 2020, 10:23:13 PM »
Was wondering if any of you stack box calls on top of each other during the off season. I'm afraid the weight of two or three calls could adversely affect the box lid or rails,  but im running out room on the shelf I store mine on. Just wondering if people do this with no ill effect.

I have done it but only one on top of another, never more. They do get rotated on a regular basis as I enjoy playing them often.

That's good and bad to hear. It's good because I have room for more box calls now and its bad because I have room for more box calls now!

I do a messy stack, lol. I don't think the weight of several box calls would be an issue. I tend to not stack them in the event that something or someone runs into the stack and several nice calls get tumbled.

I only stack them if i have the boxes they came in , if not i don't usually stack them more than 2 and that's in sleeves , you can buy sleeves from Jody Harrison , preacherman

Are sleeves like bags? And, if so isn't it better to let boxes set out at room temp? But, I have heard of people storing wooden calls in bags and Tupperware(like pot calls and such), it just doesn't seem like a good idea but I'm not sure.  You don't want moisture to get in, but you also don't want to trap it in either I suppose

These are more like bags , i just keep the end of the bag open etc and i keep those silica packets in the containers ..

I put all mine in a sock and stack them how ever they lay length wise in a filing cabinet and haven’t noticed anything bad yet and have been doing that for about 4 years now
