how does this competition work?

I'm interested in how this competition works.  I read the post on scoring, just don't know how the team works.

Hello. Every year the team captains put a 12 man team together to compete in the OG contest. Some teams have themes. Ours is the use of 20 gauge shotguns for turkey hunting. I usually invite the previous years alumni to join, if they wish to. If some of the members anticipate not being able to participate, I will offer their seat to someone else who I believe will prove to be a good team mate. I require that everyone try to participate regularly in the conversations that come up through the contest.
