I never store any of my guns without releasing the firing pin. Mine are all store in gun socks in my gun safe.

I use snap caps and I put silica gel containers in my cabinet as well as wiping everything down with rem oil about once a month. But I also don’t have anything really designated besides a single shot 20 gauge, everything else is multi purpose.

I don`t do it, use snap caps, but I think some may think it`s OK. It may be with " modern " guns, but I`m kind of old and learned as a kid that it wasn`t a good thing to do. I just got in the habit of using caps years ago. Can`t hurt.

Don't have any snap caps for my shotguns. But I use snap caps in all my rifles, sure I have to store them with the safety on because you can only take the safety off on most of my bolt guns if its cocked. I give my turkey guns a generic cleaning. I clean the barrel good, and run a little oil down the barrel with a patch. Ive always had dessicants in my safe. I do recommend cleaning barrels  whether its rifle or shotgun after season before you store a weapon. I had a barrel develop pitting in the rifling once. Its always a good idea to clean and run an oily patch down the pipe for storage.

Amen, I always, like you clean the barrels. In fact I clean the barrel after every shot with the bore snake during the season.  I have a Browning golden rod in the bottom of my safe keeping all the moisture out... Thanks for the info.

Give them a good cleaning and a wipe down with Rem oil, lock in the safe.

Yep like others have said I clean then put away. I do have snap caps. However I have used an already used shell. Guess my thought was the firing pin would hit the already used primer, at least it would have something to hit. Who knows???

I clean it, use a Snap Cap and put it in a silicone impregnated gun sock then put it in the gun cabinet.
