How big a sapling are you talking about cutting? I've got some EZ-Kut ratchet clippers that will cut something up to the size of a pool cue pretty quickly and quietly without much trouble.
I've also used the saw on a Swiss Army knife to take out a small tree, but it wasn't fast or without a lot of movement, so I retired that knife from turkey hunting.
