That’s a stud for certain. Biggest I’ve ever killed was just a touch over 26#. Had 1.5” spurs and a 12” beard. I’ve never shot anything in the 28# range. Congratulations.

My grandfathers friend once killed a bird that weighed nearly 32#. Guy was on oxygen and had a permit to hunt from his truck. It was the last turkey hunt old Mac had been on. He shot the bird and got it mounted. Shortly thereafter, my grandfather contacted the landowner about going back to hunt. He told him he could but to keep an eye out for his tame bird. Needless to say, ol’ Mac shot the farmers taa as me turkey. Looked just like an eastern. Pap told the man and compensated him for the bird. Mac was none the wiser. He died later that fall.

Once more, congratulations man. You got a true trophy there.

If it had a better/thicker beard, I would of done a full mount..... for the cost of mounting it’s got to be damn close to perfect. Maybe next time?

That’s what I said too. But, will there be a next time. I’m not much for mounting stuff. Always said if I killed a deer over 120”, he’d be mounted. Last year I shot one 129” and a little change. I’m thinking now it’s gonna be 135”+. It’s just one of those things I guess. Pile of money to just hang on the wall. Totally understand where you’re coming from though.

Haven’t run the numbers but that bird has to score in the 70s. That’s a stud for sure.

Is that good? I’m new to the forum starting late last year so I haven’t Experienced the team challenge. I put my name on the board for random team draw but never got anything.

Ummm, it’s likely to be the best scoring bird killed on the forum this year.

It was a tame bird. Mac had no idea. We butchered birds a few years ago. The smallest bird in the bunch was a 27# hen. The gobblers were all between 35 and 38#. The bird he shot looked just like an Eastern but it was very much a tame bird. Had he known, he could’ve gotten out of the truck and fed it from his hand.

Oh man! That would lead to soooo much crap. Lol. I personally wouldn’t care but it would be hilarious to see the general reaction if you got picked up and scored that bird on a team now. Bwahahahahaha
