Walnut/Cedar Scratchbox - Soft Talk

I built this Walnut/Cedar scratch box with the idea of running it as scratchers usually are with a wooden striker block. In an effort to make these things easier to play, I decided to condition and chalk the walnut surface to be able to run a typical pot striker on it. This soundfile is my first attempt running the scratchbox with a Diamondwood & Snakewood pot striker. I think it sounds really good and is as simple to run as any pot call. Curious what you guys think about it? This recording is in the woods, recorder is 20 yards away and I am playing it very softly. I just love the woody sound these things make, very realistic. I was also moving the striker to various parts of the box, all ran good.

1st part of the recording is Diamondwood, 2nd is the Snakewood striker

Hey thanks guys, I forgot about this thread....lol. I plan on making some more of these this summer, will get back here when they are completed. I thought they played and sounded better this way than as a traditional scratcher.
