Dan Wittenberg Sitka Spruce long box

Inspired by JRH's recent post I contacted Dan, found out he had some Sitka Spruce long boxes ready and not yet spoken for, and ordered one to go with the Butternut I got last year.  Just arrived today - couldn't be more pleased - every bit as fine as the Butternut and a fantastic sound all its own.





If anyone is interested in one of Dan's boxes, he made more than enough calls this winter to fill his waiting list and has some left that haven't been spoken for.

If Dan Wittenberg did shows like Unicoi or NWTF Nashville or was from the south were people could  play and hold his calls,,he would have a waiting list 5 years long

I just received my Dan’s call in Sitka spruce and it is a real beauty that sounds fantastic. Can someone who has both Sitka and butternut calls from Dan describe the difference in sound between those calls.

I've talked to Dan about this.  His take is that they sound very similar in general. Much more depends on how each individual call is tuned.  In my case I went with a Sitka Spruce that was tuned to run a little deeper in tone than my Butternut.

I just received my Dan’s call in Butternut  it is  really  beautiful and sounds amazing.

Dan is a great guy to deal with. He makes sure you get the call that you  are looking for.
