Hey 3Bailey3, I took a look at the screw bag, it is indeed Brass. I think it may look so golden due to the light reflection and the fact that it has been sealed/untouched. I notice they tend to darken a bit with time when touched by human hands. I guess I could use stainless or even black screws too.[/quote]

Brownell's Oxpho-Blue will put a nice "instant patina" on shiny new brass.  I imagine other cold blues will work as well.

Thanks....I know sound is unique to each person, but at least friends & family have given me the thumbs-up after hunting with them. I was hoping to make some recordings this weekend, but I got sick, so a little behind schedule.
