Longboxes and longbeards
« on: January 14, 2020, 11:25:17 AM »
For me there is nothing better than chasing longbeards with a longbox. If you have a photo post it up!

Here's 2019 using a Ralph Snodgrass mini boat paddle, both hunts went start to finish. Should be a third picture, but after watching him for 15 minutes at 50+ yards he broke to come and in, and I promptly missed. Turkeys do that to me.

Beautiful! Is the body on that Snodgrass call made from chestnut?

Congrats on your successes Pack - I go back and forth between a boat paddle and a mini boat paddle, but here lately its been this one and the long box stays in the truck, but there are days I'll carry both.

Yep, it is reclaimed chestnut with a mac ebony lid. The finest sounding mini boat I've ever heard. Here's a close up:

Here's my Snozz long box which has accounted for a pile of birds over the last 15 - 20 years many of which I was calling and another shooting. Its maple over persimmon and he only made three in this combo (Ralph asks to buy this one back every time I see him, LOL).

Totally agree. I don't think anyone builds one that sounds more realistic.

Nice pictures guys, got my first Fiddle Paddle from Marlin in August, hoping to have good success with it. I also have a Russle Beard that I have gotten responses from but have not gotten a turkey with yet. (Players fault, not the calls)
