Glass over Aluminum, do you like it?
« on: December 11, 2019, 09:17:01 PM »
There are a few call makers who make a glass over aluminum call. Have any of you tried one? Please comment on the tone, pitch, sound, rasp, volume, etc. Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks,
Brian

If you can find a Brad Roberts bronzed glass over aluminum, buy it.

I have a sound bite of one that I made.  Wood was Koa.  If you send me your cell number, I can send it to you.

I like it but I like glass over slate better.

Depends on what your looking for.

If you like super aggressive pot calls its a great combo.

If you like a pot call that play soft to medium ranges easier its probably not for you and that's my personnel preference in all turkey calls.

Not that glass over aluminum cant be played softly I personally don't think it is the ideal combination for that as it is more aggressive call.

It is one of my favorite combinations. I have a few from different makers and like them all. Both glass and crystal sound great over aluminum

I had a small G/A from Bill Lyman in a Bocote pot.  That call was deadly, until a very excited youth hunter jumped up and crushed it on his way to a nice gobbler he had just rolled.

Many big name makers make one, and many of them are very strong.

Lon Trice (Lonzo) makes a great call for a great price in that combo in about any wood. Easy to order.

x3 on Brad Roberts bronzed glass over aluminum, he's done some regular glass over aluminum since he ran out of bronzed that are very strong too. Can't go wrong with any from him, but you'll have to get it secondhand.

If you can't find one of Brads go for the Lon Trice, he makes a great call as well.

I really like bronzed glass/aluminum. I have one from Grey owl on here that sounds great.
