Raspy pot
« on: December 07, 2019, 07:12:05 AM »
Ok, I've finally got my shop ready to make my first attempts at making turkey calls. I prefer raspier sounding calls and would appreciate any suggestions on sound board and playing surface combinations to try. Plan on ordering some this weekend. Thanks

Every surface  available I'v herd it really raspy
But some calls just sound like scratching a slate board
And others with a nice sharp break at the end of a rollover
And or a pop not a pop but a pop sound at the end
I have call that sounds really sweet with a double Yelp just before the sharp break at the end

If you already now what your doing just go at it
If you don't know what your doing you might have a good wood pile for the fire

noisy box call that seems to sound like a flock of juvenile hens pecking their way through a wheat field

You can get rasp with slate, glass, or aluminum. Its all in how they're built, so plan on having a bunch of duds before you get the sound you like.

I've got a box set aside just for scrap calls. Figured it would be interesting to look back at my first efforts if I ever get competent at it
