Lonnie Gilbert Scratch Boxes
« on: July 15, 2019, 10:26:41 PM »
I had the pleasure of talking to Mr. Lonnie recently about some scratch boxes, which is something new for me. Well I received 2 in the mail today and all I can say is wow, what a craftsman, beautiful detail on these little calls!! I’m still learning but I promise one will be in my vest next spring. Do yourself a favor and get one, about as realistic as a cluck and purr can get!

Good looking set, I like them, one of the first calls I ever had. Unfortunately I lost the striker to it and it is a odd striker in that the striker has slate on the edge and you scratch the box against that. I have never seen another striker like that.

The checkered is holly/cocobolo with a butternut sound board and the other is walnut/maple and black limba sound board, it is my favorite of the 2.
