I get the best yelps out of a box call. I get better clucks and purrs with a pot call. I like to run-n-gun, so as I move around I switch between box calls maybe a Crystal pot. When I finally locate a Tom I usually switch to a slate or ceramic pot to seal the deal.
For a few years I only used a lynch box, then for a few years only used H&K yammin' Pot call. Killed turkeys.
Now I enjoy trying new calls. So I trade or purchase new/used calls keeping the ones I play or that sound the best to me. Trade the ones that don't.
I will say that everything suggested by OG members (call maker and certain calls)held true so I started with used calls that people suggest and went from there.
